The Learning Center will be simplified for this years meeting. We will be concentrating on educating
attendees on the important imaging functions offered by the ultrasound processors and
curvilinear array echoendoscopes. There will also be multiple stations set up with specially
designed ultrasound phantoms that will enable attendees to learn the finer details of EUS-guided
FNA. In addition to EUS phantoms, there will be a special model available which enables manipulation of the echoendoscope within the stomach and duodenum and targeting of structures outside the gut wall to perform EUS guided FNA. Learning materials will also be available which emphasize an organized approach to
performing an EUS examination with a curvilinear echoendoscope that we call the "station technique".
The overall goal of the learning center is to have attendees leave with a very good
understanding of the functions of the curvilinear EUS system, a sound foundation on the technique
of EUS FNA with an opportunity to perform the technique in a phantom model under
supervision as well as an opportunity to study an organized approach to the curvilinear EUS
examination.
