OBJECTIVES

The overall objective for EUS2008 is to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the curvilinear EUS system including its functions and capabilities.

Specific objectives for EUS2008 include:

  1. A comprehensive review of the important functions of the curvilinear system to include pulsed Doppler, color Doppler, imaging enhancement functions, and review of advanced and future imaging enhancement functions.
  2. Considerable emphasis will be placed on teaching an organized approach to the curvilinear endosonographic examination. Following these presentations, in conjunction with the DVD specifically developed for EUS2008, attendees will have a solid understanding of how to perform endoscopic ultrasound with a curvilinear echoendoscope.
  3. Attendees will be presented a comprehensive review of EUS FNA that will provide a better understanding of the technique, indications and risks, as well as an understanding of how to maximize the clinical potential of this technique.
  4. A thorough review will be presented of currently applied interventional EUS techniques that will provide attendees with an understanding of how to perform the technique, its indications and contraindications, risks and potential benefits.
  5. Attendees will hear presentations on interventional EUS techniques which currently have limited or no clinical applications but are judged to have significant future potential with the goal being to educate attendees on future potential for interventional EUS.
